The app won't open — 'unidentified developer' error
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down and click "Open Anyway". Or right-click the app and select Open. This is a one-time step for apps downloaded outside the App Store.
Can Neat delete my files?
Neat moves files to your Trash — it never permanently deletes anything. You can always recover files from Trash.
Does Neat send my data anywhere?
No. Neat works 100% offline. Zero network requests, no analytics, no cloud. Your files stay on your Mac.
What macOS versions are supported?
Neat requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It supports both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs.
How do I clear the scan cache?
Click the Cache button in the toolbar, then 'Clear All'. This removes saved scan results.
Can I scan my entire Mac?
Yes. Set the search path to '/' or use the Browse button. System folders are excluded by default to avoid scanning OS files.
