Terms of Use

Agreement
By downloading or using Neat, you agree to these terms. Neat is developed and provided by Sajith M R as a solo independent developer.
License
Neat is free software. You are granted a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use Neat on any Mac you own or control for personal or commercial purposes.
What Neat Does and Does Not Do
Neat is a search and listing tool. Its default and primary behavior is to scan your Mac for large files and display them in a list.
- Neat never automatically deletes any file. No file is removed, moved, or modified without your explicit, deliberate action.
- The "Move to Trash" feature is consent-based only. You must manually select files, click delete, and confirm through a confirmation dialog before any file is moved to Trash. For large operations (more than 5 files or over 2 GB), a second confirmation is required.
- Neat only moves files to macOS Trash — it never performs hard deletes or permanent file removal. Files moved to Trash can be recovered from the Trash folder using standard macOS functionality.
- Neat does not read, open, modify, or inspect the contents of any file. It only reads file metadata (name, size, date, path) for display purposes.
Offline Operation & Data Privacy
- Neat operates 100% offline. The app makes zero network requests and requires no internet connection.
- No data is transferred, uploaded, or shared with any server, cloud service, third party, or the developer. There is no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or any form of data collection.
- All scan results and cached data are stored locally on your Mac and never leave your device.
Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Reviewing and verifying which files you choose to move to Trash. The decision to trash any file is entirely yours.
- Understanding that emptying the macOS Trash is a separate action performed by macOS, not by Neat. Once you empty the Trash through macOS, file recovery may not be possible.
- Maintaining your own backups. We strongly recommend having a backup (e.g., Time Machine) before performing any file cleanup operations.
Disclaimer of File Recovery
Neat moves files to the macOS Trash at your request. The developer is not responsible for the retrieval or recovery of any files, whether they remain in Trash or after Trash has been emptied. File recovery after Trash is emptied is outside the scope of this application and the developer assumes no liability for unrecoverable files.
No Warranty
Neat is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The developer does not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sajith M R shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of Neat, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data or files
- Inability to recover deleted files
- System performance issues
- Any damages resulting from your decision to move files to Trash
You acknowledge that file deletion decisions are made entirely by you, and the app serves only as a tool to facilitate your choices.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Neat after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
